When planning for your big day, selecting your wedding venue is one of the most important choices you will make! It is the foundation for the entire day: from decorations to dancing, your venue should be versatile, photogenic, and of course, meaningful! Over the years, I have seen the venue choice be one of the greatest parts of the entire ceremony! But on the other hand, I have also been in awkward, stuffy locations that may not have been the best choice.
Read on and see my best tips for selecting your wedding venue!
Hylah’s Wedding Venue Tips
1) Go with a venue that has a caterer
Save yourself the extra hassle of sifting through endless menus, and find a venue that offers catering! Look for a location that has extensive food and drink options to please all your guests, so that you can customize and modify as you need to! It will ease your mind and fill your guest’s bellies!
2) Get to know your layout.
Once you have chosen your venue, familiarize yourself with the area when planning your layout.
Will the venue require a flip? Is everything you need in one space?
It is important to work with your planners to visualize the blueprint of your day and make sure it matches up with the venue so that there are no last-minute surprises!
3) Select vendors who are familiar with your venue.
Though not necessary, selecting vendors who understand the in’s and out’s of your venue will get you ahead of the game! From spacing to resources, if all of your vendors are in-the-know, it will ensure that no details are missed and every square inch of your location is used to its fullest!
4) Convenient Parking
Does your venue offer a valet service? Is parking within a reasonable walking distance? Ensuring that all of your guests arrive safely and comfortably is top priority!
5) Is there a Bridal Suite or Groom’s Room?
Ensuring that there is a comfortable space for you and your bridal party to prepare could not be more important! The last thing you want is to feel rushed or cramped while getting ready for your big day. Make sure to select a venue that has ample space to pamper and prepare for your time to shine!
6) When and where are photos to be taken?
This tiny little detail could not be more crucial! Find a location that allows for your photographer to capture every exciting moment leading up to the Altar. From the first look, to the family portraits and everything in between, work with your photographer to figure out how to best capture your big day!
Most importantly, from the big dreams to the tiny details, let your venue say something about you!
